Dana Cowie Art Workshop at RR

Celebrated local artist and rumpling extraordinaire, Dana Cowie is excited to teach our community in a 4 part series, methods for creating stunning visual art.

Even if you don’t know her art, you’ll surprise yourself with her passion and knowledge of the visual arts and no doubt learn something you can take home as inspiration or method for your own artistic pursuits!

This event runs for 4 Wednesdays starting June 18.

WEEK 1 Life Drawing – June 18
We will be drawing based on a live model. Enjoy dynamic poses and approaches to life drawing using pencil, charcoal and conte.

WEEK 2 Still Life Painting – June 25
We will be painting from a still life in the tradition of great cubists like Cezanne and Braque. Learn how to give life to your own unique vision.

WEEK 3 Cityscape Drawing – July 2
We will sit outside the Rumpus Room, drawing the city streets. Each student will find their own spot and compose drawings of the local area.

WEEK 4 Abstract Painting – July 9
Listen to mood music and learn about colour relationships, tones and textures while your painting takes inspiration from both music and mood.
